What is Recipe costing?
Recipe costing is calculating the ingredient cost of each menu item from its recipe, so you know the real margin on the dish and can price it correctly.
In Bhookly's recipe editor, each ingredient line shows its arithmetic, and a line that costs more than the dish sells for blocks saving, which stops unit mistakes. One restaurant's milk stock once went to minus 386 litres from exactly that kind of error. The same recipe is what leaves stock when the dish is paid for, and takeaway packaging is costed and deducted only when the order leaves.
